Printing was finished on November 4, 1968 by Mourlot for lithographs of the canvases of Roger de la Fresnaye and by Fequet and Baudier for Waldemar George's unpublished text. Fernand Mourlot, Paris 1968. ROGER DE LA FRESNAYE (1885–1925) was a French Cubist painter. From 1912 to 1914 La Fresnaye was a member of the Section d'Or group of artists, and his work demonstrates an individual response to cubism. He was influenced by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, but his work has a more decorative than structural feel and his prismatic colours reflect the influence of Robert Delaunay. He was a member of the Puteaux Group, an orphist offshoot of cubism led by Jacques Villon. His most famous work is The Conquest of the Air, 1913, which depicts himself and his brother outdoors with a balloon in the background. La Fresnaye enlisted in the French army in World War I but contracted tuberculosis and was discharged in 1918. His health deteriorated rapidly after the war. He never recovered the physical energy to undertake sustained work. In the later paintings that he did create, he abandoned cubist spatial analysis for a more linear style. He ceased painting in 1922 but continued to draw. De la Fresnaye died in Grasse in 1925 at the age of 40.

Deplacement, by Grégoire Mathias — Portrait in Diachronic cubism
Located in PÉRIGUEUX, FR
Deplacement Acrylic on canvas 60 x 92 cm “Déplacement” (“Displacement”) exemplifies Grégoire Mathias’s signature Diachronic Cubism — a contemporary evolution of Cubism that captures not only multiple perspectives in space, but also the passage of time within a single frame. In this work, intertwined faces and figures emerge through rhythmic geometric planes, suggesting both emotional movement and physical transition. The warm palette of ochre and sienna contrasts with sharp greys and whites, creating a powerful sense of fragmentation and reunion. Subtle red linework recalls the artist’s architectural precision, while the composition’s temporal layering evokes fleeting moments suspended between past and present. This piece reflects Mathias’s ongoing exploration of the human form through temporal geometry — a visual dialogue between motion, memory, and identity. Collector’s Insight: This work belongs to the artist’s larger inquiry into time and perspective, where emotion and structure coexist. It offers a bold yet intimate statement for modern interiors or collectors drawn to the lineage of Cubism reimagined for the 21st century. Perfect For: Collectors of figurative or abstract Cubism • Modern and contemporary interiors Collector’s Insight: This work belongs to the artist’s larger inquiry into time and perspective, where emotion and structure coexist. It pairs beautifully with Après Midi en Grèce or Le Banquet, offering a bold yet intimate statement for modern interiors or collectors drawn to the lineage of Cubism reimagined for the 21st century. Perfect For: Collectors of figurative or abstract Cubism • Modern and contemporary interiors • Vertical wall art...
