Medium: original etching. This impression on Canson et Montgolfier wove paper was printed in 1937 in an edition of 500 for the "Paris 1937" portfolio. Printed at the atelier of Jean-Gabriel Daragnes, this art and literary album celebrated Paris in 1937, with original etchings from important artists of the time, and essays from leading writers. Image size: 6 x 9 1/4 inches (150 x 235 mm). There is printed text beneath the etching and on the back side, as published (see the second photo). Signed in the plate (not hand-signed).

Maurice Savin
Maurice Louis Savin , French born 1894 and died 1973. He was known for painiting, prints, engravings, and ceramics. Savin began his career as an illustrator and as a cartoonist. Savin exhibited at the Salon de Independants, and the Salon d'Automne.He strived to reduce and synthesize his color palette to what he called Light Color by using only seven colors. His art reflects golden colors and soothing light in which he described as The Golden Age.
