Large folio (43.2 x 35.6 cm), loose as issued, in folded covers, housed in a yellow cloth chemise and matching slipcase, with the original printed acetate band.
Complete with 18 original drypoint etchings by Bernard Buffet, including two stunning double-page compositions.
This is the first edition of Bernard Buffet’s masterful interpretation of Cyrano de Bergerac’s visionary tales. One of only 197 copies printed on Rives B.F.K. paper, presented in its original condition.
A remarkable artistic achievement by one of the 20th century’s most iconic painters.
A pristine example — the prints are fresh, the text and presentation immaculate, and the original acetate band present — extremely rare in this state.

Bernard Buffet
Bernard Buffet was born on July 10, 1928, in Paris. He was a French painter of Expressionism and a member of the anti-abstract art group L'homme Témoin. He studied art at the École Nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts and worked in the studio of the painter Eugène Narbonne. Buffet died on October 4, 1999, in Tourtour, France.
