About the Item
This vibrant original 1989 French poster by celebrated graphic artist Bernard Villemot was created to promote the French National Lottery’s summer jackpot: “Super Cagnotte des Vacances.”
In typical Villemot fashion, the design is bold, minimal, and instantly eye-catching. A playful mermaid figure—sunbathing on a beach—takes center stage. Her golden tail is composed of lottery ticket numbers, visually connecting the fantasy of a mythical creature with the dream of winning big. The bright yellow-orange tones of the sand contrast sharply with the tranquil blue of the sea and sky, enhancing the summery, escapist feel of the composition.
Villemot’s distinctive style—marked by confident silhouettes, vibrant flat colors, and clever visual metaphors—is unmistakable here. The mermaid, a symbol of enchantment and desire, perfectly captures the message: a lottery win could transform your holiday into a fantasy.
An iconic and rare piece of French advertising art, this poster is a collector's gem for those interested in vintage lotteries, graphic design, or Bernard Villemot’s legendary body of work.

Bernard Villemot
Villemot, one of the leading graphic designers in France during the post-war period, is regarded as one of France's most talented twentieth-century poster artists. He was the subject of retrospective exhibitions at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris between 1980 and 2000. Belonging to the movement that moved towards an international graphic style after the Bauhaus and de Stijl, Villemot's advertising clients included Air France, Perrier, Orangina, and Bergasol. His work is characterized by vivid colors, thin outlines, and abstract and organic forms.

By Georges Mathieu
Located in PARIS, FR
The 1971 Prix d'Amérique poster by Mathieu for the Loterie Nationale is a striking example of mid-20th-century French graphic design, capturing the essence of one of France's most prestigious horse racing events. The Prix d'Amérique, held annually at the Hippodrome de Vincennes, is the world's most famous trotting race, and the Loterie Nationale (National Lottery) played an essential role in promoting and supporting major national events such as this.
Mathieu, the designer of this poster, was known for his ability to blend dynamic imagery with modernist design principles, often creating works that felt both contemporary and timeless. This poster encapsulates the excitement and grandeur of the Prix d'Amérique, utilizing bold colors and clean lines that were hallmarks of graphic design during that era.
The poster was not only an advertisement for the event but also for the Loterie Nationale, which used such occasions to encourage public participation in the national lottery. The Loterie Nationale played a significant role in funding various public initiatives and events in France, with posters like this serving as both promotional tools and collectible pieces of art.

1982 vintage poster by Razzia for the Paris Posters exhibition
By Razzia (Gérard Courbouleix–Dénériaz)
Located in PARIS, FR
This striking 1982 vintage poster, designed by Razzia, was created to promote the Paris Posters exhibition at the Musée de l’Affiche et de la Publicité during the summer (Été 82). Featuring a bold and graphic collage-style composition, the artwork embodies the dynamic energy of 1980s design.
Razzia, a renowned French graphic artist, is celebrated for his iconic Art Deco-inspired poster designs with a modern twist. In this piece, he juxtaposes a stylized black-and-white Eiffel Tower, a monochrome portrait of a woman, and an accordion transformed into the Arc de Triomphe, all set against a dramatic black background with vivid color accents.
The use of cutout-style imagery and neon-inspired typography reflects the postmodern aesthetic of the early 1980s, capturing the bold creativity of the era. The vibrant contrast of yellow, red, and blue highlights adds to the poster’s visual impact, making it a standout example of contemporary French graphic design.
