About the Item
Charles de Gaulle, born on November 22, 1890 and died on November 9, 1970, was a French soldier, resistance fighter, statesman and writer.
He was, among other things, leader of the Free French Forces and then leader of the French Committee for National Liberation during the Second World War, president of the Provisional Government of the French Republic from 1944 to 1946, president of the Council of Ministers from 1958 to 1959, instigator of the Fifth Republic, founded in 1958, and president of the Republic from 1959 to 1969, being the first to occupy the supreme magistracy under this regime.
