About the Item

Andrew Scott, Catch, 2024 Print on Etching cotton Rag with Hand Burnt Frame 45 x 33 cm (17 7/10 × 13 in) Edition of 232 of250 Framed in open-grain black wood Signed and numbered label on the back Includes Certificate of Authenticity from publisher Stowe Gallery. Bio: Andrew Scott is an interdisciplinary artist celebrated worldwide for his innovative viral frame experiments, which have collectively attracted more than one billion views across social media platforms. His boundary-pushing practice has been featured on major outlets such as Good Morning America, Yahoo News, and ABC News, bringing his work to a global audience far beyond the traditional gallery space. Whether breaking, shattering, burning, or reconfiguring frames, Scott transforms the frame itself into an integral part of the artwork. This signature approach breaks the fourth wall, blurring the line between subject and setting, and bringing his images vividly to life. By reimagining one of the most conventional tools in art presentation, Scott continually challenges and expands artistic convention in surprising, theatrical ways. His works are held in collections around the world, including celebrity collectors such as Joanna Gaines and Kaley Cuoco, as well as major brand collaborations with Manchester City F.C.. Exploring themes of escapism, loneliness, curiosity, and empowerment, Andrew Scott’s practice spans multiple media yet remains unified by its immersive quality and its ability to connect with audiences on both personal and universal levels.

Custom framed in a wooden black frame, with white matting. It is in excellent condition. About the artist: François Burland (1958) was born in Lausanne (Switzerland). He began drawing in self-taught fashion at the end of his adolescence. He undertook a first trip to Egypt's Sinai Peninsula at the age of twenty. A few years later, he encountered the Tuaregs in the Sahara Desert. Enthused by their nomadic lifestyle, he began returning to the region regularly over some thirty years. During his long stays with the Tuaregs, he shared their daily life, including their dromedaries and witchcraft, but also their 4x4s, mobiles and kalachnikovs. This creator has produced an abundant and varied oeuvre. Depending on each series and on his inspiration of the day, he avails himself of a number of techniques and materials. For his drawings, he prefers to use wrapping paper as a support: he applies pastels, colored pencil and white chalk to very large surfaces. His creations bring to mind shamanic art...
