About the Item
Original Greta Garbo vintage movie-star personality poster. Archival linen backed in B condition, ready to frame. There is some minor damage in the lower left corner (shown) and on the outer right side border. The artist is Kurt Glombig. The poster dates from the 1940s. We have researched and found no other original copy of this lithograph. In 1954, Greta Garbo was named the most beautiful woman by Guinness World Records.
Born as Greta Lovisa Gustafson in 1905 in Stockholm, Sweden. Greta Garbo was a legendary romantic Swedish actress from 1924 to 1941. She retired at age 35, still very popular, and lived in seclusion for many decades afterward, living by her trademark expression, "I want to be alone."
She first gained fame in a movie in her native Sweden, then caught Hollywood's attention. However, she only signed a contract if they also signed her director, and MGM agreed!
Some of her movies include: Ninotchka (which was nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award), Queen Christina, Grand Hotel, Anna Christie (nominated for the same award), Romance (also nominated), and Camille (another nominee). Garbo died in 1990 at age 84.
This is definitely a rare original and a must for Greta Garbo fans who want the ‘real thing’. Don’t let this last known copy slip through your fingers.
