Shepard Fairey created this tribute print honoring Clem Burke, the legendary drummer of Blondie, based on photographs by Bobby Grossman. Blondie has long been part of Fairey’s musical DNA, and Burke—along with Debbie Harry and Chris Stein—was a formative influence.
Fairey later developed a personal friendship with Burke, whose generosity, humility, and enthusiasm bridged music and art communities in Los Angeles. Burke frequently supported Fairey’s exhibitions and even performed with renowned musicians as part of a gallery event, purely for the joy of collaboration. This artwork stands as both a visual homage and a personal expression of gratitude for Burke’s enduring creative spirit and kindness.
Frank Shepard Fairey is an American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist, illustrator, and founder of OBEY Clothing who emerged from the skateboarding scene. He first became known for his ""Andre the Giant Has a Posse"" sticker campaign while attending the Rhode Island School of Design.

Expanding on the legacies of artists such as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, Shepard Fairey’s practice disrupts the distinction between fine and commercial art.
