The Center for Common Ground is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering Black voters in the American South, where barriers to voting access continue to persist. The collaboration reflects James Brown’s lifelong commitment not only to musical innovation, but also to education, self-determination, and voting rights. Brown’s influence extended far beyond the stage, positioning him as a cultural figure who consistently used his voice to advocate for social change.
James Brown’s legacy is foundational to modern music and culture. His innovations reshaped funk, soul, and rhythm-driven performance, and his influence on hip hop is immeasurable—forming the backbone of countless samples throughout the genre’s formative years.
