About the Item

Green shell lithograph of a cone shell. Print is edition 33 of 34. Signed and dated by the artist along with titled. Print is framed in a golden frame with a white matte. Dimensions without Frame: H 10 in x W 9 in. Artist Biography: Frances Clark Nail was born in Memphis, Texas in 1924. She was the youngest child and her nickname was Tootsie. She grew up during the great depression and knew the struggles that it brought upon her family and the world around her. She grew up to be a artist and a writer. She studied journalism and art at Texas Tech and would of earned her degree if she passed French. She worked at an air field during World War II. After the war she married Paul and they moved to Houston, Texas after he finished his degree in 1948. She had two daughters. They owned a beach house on Galveston Island than moved to Austin in 1979 and owned a house on Lake Travis. She published four books and was often invited to book clubs. She lived the rest of her life in Austin, Texas until she died in 2013.
