Jane McNichol, a New York City-based painter, works en plein aire, from sketches, photographs and memories, producing transcendent paintings, drawings and prints of landscapes, domestic scenes and interiors, and still lives. Degrees from Tyler and Temple Universities, a year spent painting in Rome and a stint in the Merchant Marines were important formative experiences which significantly influenced her direction as an artist. A Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant recipient and Macdowell Fellow, McNichol divides her time between studios in New York City and coastal Maine.
