Carol Wax originally trained to be a classical musician at the Manhattan School of Music but fell in love with printmaking. Soon after she began engraving mezzotints she was asked by the renowned print dealer Sylvan Cole to exhibit at Associated American Artists Gallery, launching her career as a professional artist/printmaker. With the publication of her book, The Mezzotint: History and Technique, published by Abrams, 1990 and 1996, Carol added author and teacher to her credits. In the ensuing years she has expanded her repertoire of mediums beyond printmaking into other works on paper and painting.
In compositions reflecting an appreciation for antiquated machinery and vintage textiles, Wax creates imagery that, in her own words, “… speaks to an inner life perceived in inanimate objects.” She uses stylization and imagination to reinvent subjects, transforming an ordinary typewriter into a monumental icon...

This artwork titled "Bell Towr, Lecce" 1999, is an original archival pigment print by noted American photographer and artist Jenny Okun, b.1953. It is hand signed, dated and numbered 2/10 in pencil by the artist. The image size is 20 x 40 inches, the paper size is 26 x 46 inches, framed size is 28.25 x 48.25 inches. Custom framed in a metal silver frame, with white backing. It is in excellent condition, the frame have some very minor rubs, barely visible.
About the artist:
Jenny Okun is an American artist and filmmaker who travels the world in search of unusual beauty. Her artworks have been shown in more than sixty international exhibitions and in numerous private and public collections. Commissions have included the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Tate Modern, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Craig Krull describes her artwork as “large-scale color photographic abstractions. Okun distills the essential qualities of form, texture, color, and detail into one layered vision.”
Her earlier two books, Dreamscapes and Variations, show artworks of architecture, landscape, nudes, and art.
