I received my first drawing instruction at the age of six from my father. We were living in New Mexico at the time and he was an avid amateur landscape painter there. Although I dabbled in painting off and on for years, my first career took a different path. Following a BA from the University of Colorado and a PhD from The Ohio State University I entered a career in neuroscience research. However, in 2004, I committed to painting full time and was almost immediately rewarded with the joy of recreating scenes I loved. I am indebted to numerous mentors along the way including Mark Tompkins, Skip Whitcomb, William Scott Jennings, Jim Wilcox...

"Mid Day at East Hampton Beach, " Framed Limited Edition Giclee Print, 24" x 32"
Located in Westport, CT
This contemporary coastal landscape is a Limited Edition print by Daniel Pollera. It depicts a sandy beach with waves rolling in from the right-hand side of the composition. Two Adirondack chairs are seated on the beach, in front of wooden fencing, overlooking the ocean. A beach house can be seen slightly up a hill, behind the fence, with a white porch and trim. Very light clouds can be seen throughout a vibrant blue sky. This Limited Edition giclee print by Daniel Pollera is an edition size of 10. Printed on canvas, this giclee ships framed in a warm silver floater frame wired and ready to hang. Other floater frame options are available in gold, black, white, and walnut. For additional sizes and alternate frame options, please contact us. This print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and ships for free. The artist granted permission to Sorelle Gallery to produce his Limited Edition prints which are printed with pigment ink on a Premium Fine Art Matte Canvas 410g/m2, designed to meet museum longevity requirements and ensure consistency. Please allow additional time for printing prior to shipping. Daniel Pollera was born in 1953 in the coastal town of Freeport, New York. His interest in art began at a very young age, gravitating toward drawing and painting the surrounding coastline of Long Island. After a short study at SUNY Farmingdale in Commercial Art, he left to enter the family business. For almost 15 years, Daniel took a sabbatical from painting, but this didn’t affect his love for the sea. He obtained a Captain’s License in 1977 from the United States Coast Guard and took passengers for hire on the open ocean. Through this experience and visual knowledge he was drawn to begin painting again. Although Daniel was primarily self-taught, he worked with Frances Norris Streit, a portrait and mural artist, assisting her on a 14’ x 30’ historical mural for the Roslyn Savings Bank. He also studied with Everett Molinari, a well-respected President of the National Mural Society. Museum collections include Long Island Museum, Parrish Art Museum, and Guild Hall Museum. Daniel split his time between his home in East Quogue...

1971 original travel poster by Pagès for Air France promoting travel to Canada
Located in PARIS, FR
The 1971 original travel poster by Pagès for Air France promoting travel to Canada is a striking example of how mid-20th century travel advertising captured the imagination of would-be travelers. With its focus on bold design and a sense of adventure, this poster reflects the growing enthusiasm for international travel and Air France's role in making distant destinations more accessible. Pagès' work for this campaign is emblematic of the era's modernist artistic trends, skillfully blending abstract forms with cultural and geographical references to convey the vast and varied appeal of Canada. Pagès, renowned for his innovative use of abstract shapes and colors, likely employs these elements to evoke the expansive landscapes and natural beauty of Canada. Though the specific visual details are not described, his style often incorporates geometric patterns and vibrant contrasts that could symbolize Canada's iconic features, such as its towering mountains, endless forests, and dynamic urban centers. The abstract nature of the design serves to create a sense of wonder and possibility, drawing viewers into the allure of exploring the vast Canadian wilderness and cosmopolitan cities. The word "Canada" is likely presented in a clean, modern font, emphasizing the destination's name with simplicity and elegance. Below this, the Air France logo, traditionally in a bold blue, reinforces the airline's commitment to providing a sophisticated and reliable travel experience. The minimalist text ensures that the viewer's focus remains on the visual elements of the poster, which communicate the essence of Canada as a destination rich in natural beauty and cultural diversity. In the 1970s, Canada was emerging as a popular destination for travelers seeking both adventure and tranquility. From the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the serene landscapes of the Great Lakes to the vibrant cultural scenes in cities like Montreal and Toronto, Canada offered a wide range of experiences. Pagès' abstract design likely captures this diversity, conveying the country's unique charm and inviting travelers to explore its myriad attractions. The choice of an abstract and modernist design reflects Air France's branding strategy during this period, positioning the airline as a gateway to the world's most exciting and diverse destinations. By commissioning contemporary artists like Pagès, Air France not only advertised its routes but also associated itself with the cutting-edge artistic movements of the time, appealing to a global audience of sophisticated and adventurous travelers. Today, the 1971 Air France Canada poster...
