About the Item

The large advertisement poster created by Mobil for the promotion of Nancy Mitford's Love in a Cold Climate was produced around 1980, coinciding with the U.S. broadcast of the British television adaptation on Masterpiece Theatre. This eight-part miniseries, adapted by Simon Raven and starring Judi Dench, aired on PBS beginning March 28, 1980. The poster features an illustration by Chuck Wilkinson, depicting elegantly dressed couples dancing in a lavish ballroom, encapsulating the aristocratic setting of the series. It was printed by Gips + Balkind + Associates and measures approximately 30 x 46 inches. This promotional piece is a collectible artifact reflecting the collaboration between British literary adaptations and American public broadcasting during that era.
