About the Item

During World War ll conservation was a major part of the war effort on the home front. Many posters were created to promote the conservation of materials, such as metal, rubber, and rags, as well as food. This poster by an anonymous artist from 1943 urges the public against wasting food. Food rationing was an important aspect of the WWII era and each citizen was encouraged to do their part in helping in the allied war effort. Nutrition was also emphasized in connection to staying healthy in order to contribute to production. The message of frugality in one's eating became not only a national goal but an aspect of life for many that had a lasting effect on the Depression era generation. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
