Artist Commentary:
This sculpture is as close to a self portrait as I've ever done. The head and legs of the figure have references to books, and the figure carries a carved wood book in her backpack--references to my literature background.
The figure's backpack is made of vinyl cloth stitched with tactical cord; these materials, as well as the main material of the sculpture, wood, make the piece suitable for indoors or outdoors.
