About the Item
This modern outdoor sculpture was forged from steel by a Quebec artist.
Quebec artist Claude Millette has been creating uniquely compelling sculptures for more than four decades.
This dynamic outdoor piece in corten steel features a cube-like open frame that balances precariously on one corner and sits on top of a tall column. Millette is known for his imaginative abstract work that plays with the viewer’s perception of balance and imbalance.
“Though staunchly non-figurative, my productions are not strictly abstractions per se: from the moment the gesture expresses an emotion or a reflection, the work is imbued with feeling.” Claude Millette
Claude Millette was born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec and studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet. Millette's works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He has received commissions for public artworks in Quebec, Russia, France, Costa Rica and Mexico. His works have been acquired by several museums (Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal; Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Quebec City), and they stand in numerous municipal and private collections.

Claude Millette
Born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Millette studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet. Millette's works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions and are in the collections of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Musée d’art de Joliette, and the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent, the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec and the Ville de Matour, Bourgogne, France.
