About the Item

" Cabra ". This sculpture was created with recycled glass , sand cast aluminium and steel. Sand cast in our foundry, mounted and finished in our workshop in Andalucia, Spain. It is certified authentic by the Artist David Marshall. The modern Sculpture " Cabra ” is a unique piece made from a burnout mold by David Marshall in 2014, sand cast in aluminium in our foundry, mounted on steel and handcrafted by the Artist in his workshop in Spain. His signature certifies its authenticity. With more than 50 Years since his first exhibition in Spain, David Marshall has shown his highly individual work throughout Europe and United States. “ After all this years since my first show I am still fascinated by working in 3 dimensions – maybe because I cant draw or more likely because sculpture holds some obtuse subconscious obligation. It is still addictive and highly satisfying despite the onus of molding, casting, welding, polishing, fitting in a tough work environment before the final satisfaction of seeing the piece come together as envisaged. Living in the mountains provides the creative impetus, being surrounded by rocks, rivers, the detritus of erosion, geomorphology and all natures destructive force has inspired an eclectic, very personal and organic bias to my work – an appreciation of random forms, diverse textures and all the unexpected creativity of the natural world where no line is perfect.” Metal Sculpture, Abstract, Silver, Black, Outdoor, Indoor, Modern, Contemporary, Glass, Skull

Bucranium - Surreal Sculpture, Animal Sculpture, Green Metal and Resin Sculpture
By Angelo Canevari
Located in New York, NY
Angelo Canevari’s Bucranium is a 34 x 19 inch mix media surrealist sculpture. It is made of metal, resin, green automotive paint, and cardboard. It is a surrealist interpretation of the carved decoration, representing ox-skulls, commonly used in Classical architecture for the friezes of Doric temples. The same motif was also later used on Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical buildings. Canevari's contemporary interpretation is evident in the medium he chose to shape this artwork and yet it maintains the same commanding and monumental presence of the classical monuments that have inspired it.. The use of metal and wires to develop a tridimensional sculptural quality, as well as the expressionistic outcome of the imagery, has echoes in some contemporary African sculpture...
