About the Item
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
This modern and distinctive artwork by contemporary artist and sculptor David Sprakes pushes the boundaries of modern sculpture. Sprakes uses materiality and design to create unique and original artistic forms that come to life in their three dimensional qualities. This sculpture uses colour and form to mark its presence. With a combination of dark tones, turquoise, blue and subtle chromatic elements, this piece is simple yet elegant and timeless. Sprakes is able to create a fluid and circular form in this sculpture bringing a feeling of harmony and balance to any environment. This piece has each stones placed on the base in equal distances adding to this feeling of harmony. This sculpture is made from bronze, hand signed by the artist and ready to be displayed.
Artist Biography:
David’s sculpture evolves through enquiry, investigation and exploration. Drawing, maquette studies, clay modelling, mould-making, casting, construction and carving illustrate the breadth of techniques involved.
The tactile sensory qualities of objects and environments, both man-made and natural are a constant source of inspiration to me. Form, space, surface, rhythm, texture and the shape and the feel of things play a central role in the development and construction of my work. My analytical and experimental approach to sculpture aims to open up new ways of seeing and relating to three dimensional form for the spectator. The themes that recur are abstraction, eroded, weathered, unearthed forms and structures found and seen in the fabricated and natural world. An underpinning concept is truth to materials, allowing their visual and tactile qualities to become a key message of my sculpture.

Henge, sculpture by Kerry Green, copper, bronze, abstract, figures, metal sculpture
Since childhood, Kerry Green has always been creative; painting, drawing, sculpting, and sewing. Her family provided her with materials and encouraged her efforts. She literally grew up in her parents’ art galleries, and with them toured the U.S.,
Europe, Mexico, Japan, and New Zealand, seeing museums and visiting artists’ studios. Growing up in Arizona and New Mexico gave her the opportunity to explore the Native reservations there where she has made life-long friendships. Several of her very early influences were Dr. Harry Wood...
