About Eric James Bransby (1916–2020): Born in New York, Bransby was a multifaceted artist known for his work as a muralist, painter, illustrator, and educator. He studied at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center under masters such as Thomas Hart Benton, Jean Charlot, Boardman Robinson, and Josef Albers, as well as at the Yale School of Fine Art. Bransby created notable murals including the Rockhurst Library Triptych at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and works at Brigham Young University, the Air Force Academy, Colorado College, and various military institutions. He also served as an associate professor of art, leaving a lasting influence on generations of artists. A long-time resident of Colorado Springs and member of the National Society of Mural Painters, Bransby received a doctorate of humane letters from the University of Colorado (1997) and a lifetime achievement medal from Colorado College (1998).
