James Higginson finds inspiration in mid-century design, organic materials, and photography, exploring the interplay of light, shadow, and colour to shape atmosphere. Playfulness is central to his work, as he reimagines forms in new states to challenge their essence and invite discovery. His creative process strikes a balance between planning and improvisation, where deliberate ideas and unexpected outcomes coexist. Cacti, especially the Saguaro, play a prominent role in his work. Drawn to their resilience and mysticism, he celebrates their cultural and botanical significance, particularly their role in Native American traditions and their status as Arizona’s state flower.
In the future, he hopes to create a platform that supports and connects emerging creatives, unlocking their potential through collaboration and mentorship.
