About the Item

White and cool grey ceramic sculpture from Pop Art pioneer Jane B. Grimm, whose artistic career exploded onto the 1960's art and fashion scene in NYC when her free-form sculptural jewelry designs, spoke to a new generation. Grimm's jewelry designs, made with free form plastic and other unexpected materials, was continuously featured in and graced the covers of, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue magazines, throughout the 1960's and 1970's, when Grimm left New York for San Francisco and shifted her focus to ceramic clay, earning her MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts, and graduating with high distinction. Her contemporary ceramic sculptures, each one unique and created entirely by hand with a low-fire method, have premiered in top galleries and museums, and are included in prestigious private art collections worldwide. Donut VII is a classic Grimm abstract shaped sculpture in two parts. The central component can sit within the sculpture on next to it. And the sculpture can sit in any direction and on any side making for a curious and enjoyable work to change and shift into endless positions. Matte white ceramic with glazed grey sizes. 18 x 17 x 5 inches overall.Original, unique and created by hand using a low fire method.
