About the Item
Smooth-surfaced, black granite flecked almost imperceptibly with copper and white has been engineered into an elegant ribbon in tangible contrast to its weight. The work is aptly titled Zephyr, a word derived from the ancient Greek zephuros, the name for the God of the West Wind. As such, this sculpture echoes the graceful, bent form into which some northern Canadian pines will grow if exposed to the persistent west wind.
This sculpture is in an Edition 7/50. This piece is a commission; please allow up to 4 - 6 weeks for creation and then time for delivery.
Base Options for Zephyr Minor:
Zephyr Minor is presented on a fixed base, available in three elegant finishes:
½” painted black steel
1” brushed aluminum
3” engineered stone
Customized Plinths:
Custom plinths are available to complement the sculpture’s design and setting.
12" × 12" or 14" × 14" footprint (recommended): $2,000 for the first 12" in height, plus $1,000 for each additional 12".
16" × 16" to 20" × 20" footprint: $2,500 for the first 12" in height, plus $1,500 for each additional 12".
The sculpture connects to the plinth via a steel pin, allowing the sculpture to be turned without turning the plinth.
Jeremy Guy grew up in England, where natural inspiration has come from the work of British modern sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Since completing a BA in Product Design (2001) from Leeds Metropolitan University, Guy has been in full-time practice as a sculptor. He emigrated to Canada in 2007. Guy's stone and engineered stone sculptures can be found in public spaces and private collections worldwide, including Queen Ethelburga's College Sculpture Park, North Yorkshire, UK, Orchard Residences in Singapore, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore and more.
