The tapestry is part of the solo show A call to heaven by Laurence Le Constant. The artist used techniques of weaving she learned twenty years ago, in the north of France. For the first time, she uses a mix of silk, cashmere, alpaca, cotton threads that are coming from the suppliers of the high fashion, as Laurence kept friendship relations with them from her ancient time she was working in couture. The three tapestries expresses the memories of the children's laughs, the ones of the artist, the ones she recalled during the pandemic. They all have titles from the rhymes of childhood, and on their backs Laurence hided poems of her own. Ricochet is a piece that refers to children's play. To the explosion of joy when the flat stone dashes and bounces on the water, creating this magical waterscape. Laurence Le Constant first studied literature, but soon felt the imperative need to work with materials. Her choice fell on textiles. Thus, after a BTS in fashion design, she began artistic studies, focusing on textile design. She explored the techniques of embroiderers, weavers and feather workers. The ancestral gestures are transmitted to her in the workshop. Later on, she opted for a course of study in plastic arts at the Sorbonne and courses at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. This sealed her desire to master the creation of the most elaborate materials, combined with fundamental plastic questioning. Since 2000, she has worked in prestigious haute couture workshops and has worked for Chanel, Dior, Emmanuel Ungaro ... The death of her grandmother in 2008 deeply transformed her and she chose her path, becoming an artist in her own right. Transcending death becomes the keystone of her plastic research. In 2010, she created the series My Lovely Bones, in homage to the one who was her inspiration. Since then, she has participated in group exhibitions in Paris, Tokyo, Osaka, Dallas and San Francisco. The work Micheline (from My Lovely Bones) became part of the permanent collection of the Dallas Museum of Art, in 2012. From May to the end of June 2014, the Géraldine Banier gallery hosted her first solo show Her Garden 2015 is marked by a series of collaborations with the House of Massaro. They will give birth to Suki, Eve, Daphne and Melle Ives. The alchemy that develops between the artist, the master bootmaker of the rue de la Paix and the watchmaker Roger Dubuis leads in 2016 to the creation of the limited edition of 88 watches: Velvet Greta. In 2021, the Michelangelo Foundation included the artist in its prestigious worldwide selection and chose to exhibit two of his works, Lovely Esther and Victorine, at the Homo Faber 2022 event held in May 2022 at the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice.
