This wall-mounted pop sculpture by María Magán consists of dozens of hand-molded silicone forms arranged in a dense gradient composition within a classical white wooden frame. Made from polyvinyl silicone—a material used in professional dental mold-making for its precision and elasticity—the forms resemble chewed gum, but originate from casts of reimagined condoms, playfully abstracted into soft, biomorphic units. The piece explores accumulation, surface, and transformation. The top half, dominated by saturated mint green tones, gradually dissolves into pale greys and creams toward the bottom, generating a visual gradient of material density and chromatic saturation. Each element holds traces of folding and impression, creating a field of repetition where tactile memory and sculptural ornamentation intersect. Part of the Chicles series, Mint Gum Composition addresses the tension between intimacy and form, humor and material rigor. With its carefully controlled arrangement and formal clarity, the piece invites reflection on the aesthetic elevation of discarded matter. The result is a poetic and ironic work that blends pop minimalism, symbolic excess, and domestic scale.

María Magán
(Galicia, Spain) is a multidisciplinary visual artist and PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo. Her practice explores textile art, painting, and installation, using sewing as a creative process that moves between political activism and poetic recreation. Founder of art collectives and cultural spaces such as La doce and LIBA colectivo, Magán combines artistic creation with cultural project management. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Spain and Portugal, including the Hybrid Art Fair (Madrid) and shows at institutions like the Fundación Museo de Artes de Ribeira. Her sensitive and experimental work weaves new material narratives connecting memory, identity, and territory.
