About the Item
Cosmic Soul. Sculpture. Papier-mâché, epoxy resin, acrylic, and soft fabric elements.
The inspiration for this series of sculptures was the idea that we are all cosmic condensations of energy. Deep, complex, multifaceted, immortal. I created abstract forms with a mirrored surface that reflects the outside world. At the same time, the deep black color symbolizes the depthlessness of the soul, its cosmos. Hence the name – Cosmos of the Soul. I sewed wings (or something like them) from soft fabric to emphasize the weightlessness of the sculptures themselves. The wings are made of glossy or shimmering fabric to create a vibrational effect. The combination of two materials – hard and soft – is an allegory for the duality of our nature: resilience and fragility at the same time.
