Claude-Levy Cast Iron Sculpture of Flora, Dated 1925
Located in New York, NY
Claude-Lévy, 1895 – 1942 Alice Nikitina in the role of Flora, from the Dukelsky/Braque production of the ballet Zephyr & Flore at the Ballets Russes, 1925 Cast Stone Signed and dated: Claude-Levy 1925 on rear face of self-base. The present sculpture is as rare as it is delightful. Mademoiselle Claude-Levy, as the catalogues of the period list her, was one of the truly original talents of the Art Deco period. Painter, architect, decorator, and sculptor, she was a friend of the Parisian, Modernist sculptors, Chana Orloff, Henri Laurens and the Martel brothers, to whom her work was often compared. The ingenuity of her models brought her great critical acclaim, but she seems to have stopped producing in the early 1930s. Her output, although fine, is rare. Claude-Levy’s gentle Cubism might be better described as Purism in sculpture. It is characterized by simplified surfaces, rounded (as opposed to angular) forms, and smooth, lustrous surfaces. The Purist movement included the painters Léger, Ozenfant and Le Corbusier in its ranks. Claude-Lévy, along with other artists of the avant- garde living in the Gallic capital (Czaky, Zadkine, Archipenko, Lipchitz, Lambert Rucki Miklos, Nadelman, Vörös, Orloff) helped to develop a collective twentieth century figurative sculptural idiom that exploited the daring and rich possibilities of geometric abstraction. The present work is Claude-Lévy’s Commedia dell’Arte figures inspired by the Stravinsky/Picasso Ballet...

"Mossi Head dress Mas ceremonies Rep Upper Volta, " Wood created c. 1910
Located in Milwaukee, WI
"Mossi Head dress Mas ceremonies Rep Upper Volta" is a wood sculpture that includes various other materials such as fabric, and fibers. An abstracted animal with a hump and a bird on it's back make up the top of the headdress. 27" x 6" x 1" The Mossi states were created about 1500 A.D., when bands of horsemen rode north from what is now northern Ghana into the basin of the Volta River and conquered several less powerful peoples, including Dogon, Lela, Nuna, and Kurumba. These were integrated into a new society call Mossi, with the invaders as chiefs and the conquered as commoners. The Mossi make both political art and spiritual art. Figures are used by the ruling class to validate political power, and masks are used by the conquered peoples to control the forces of nature. The several mask styles reflect the diversity of the population before the 15th century invasion. Long tall masks...

Hybrid Architectural Figurative Bust in Black Cement. Anthropotectura “LarA 011”
Located in FISTERRA, ES
“LarA 011” is a unique architectural sculpture from the Antropotectura series by Spanish artist José Perozo. Cast in black pigmented cement, this head-and-shoulders bust presents a fusion of the human figure with modular architectural volumes. The vertical extension of block-like forms emerges from the cranial area, transforming the head into a structural topography. This hybrid configuration invites reflection on the human body as both inhabited and inhabiting — a site of memory, construction, and symbolic permanence. The formal arrangement of the sculpture is symmetrical but discontinuous, with geometric protrusions interrupting the organic contours of the face. These elements suggest urban formations, perhaps ruins or unfinished constructions, anchored to the surface of the skin. This layered structure evokes the aesthetic of posthuman figuration and resonates with speculative architectural languages often seen in anime environments — particularly those of Studio Ghibli or early cybernetic landscapes. The matte black surface finish accentuates the raw tactility of the material. Subtle tonal variations, occasional air pockets, and manual traces from the casting process are preserved, underscoring the artist’s interest in the sculptural language of construction materials. These choices align with the conceptual underpinning of Antropotectura, a term coined by Perozo to describe his ongoing investigation into the convergence of embodiment and architecture. About the Artist: José Perozo (Vigo, 1978) is a Spanish sculptor with a background in Scenic Construction and Fine Arts. His practice explores how built structures can be inscribed onto the human form, merging classical figuration with a contemporary sculptural grammar. The LarA series has been exhibited in institutional and independent contexts and is currently represented by Casa das Peritas. About Casa das Peritas: This work is presented by Casa das Peritas, an independent art space located in Galicia’s Atlantic coast, working with international collectors, designers, and institutions. Known for its curated selection of contemporary figurative and conceptual works, the gallery combines rural precision with global outreach. All works include certificates of authenticity and are shipped with personalized follow-up and care. Visitors are encouraged to follow our storefront to explore new additions and artist collaborations. Brutalist Hand Forged Iron Mosaic Sculpture Menorah Israeli David Palombo
Located in Surfside, FL
Hand Forged Iron Stone Mosaic Hanukah Menorah Candelabra David Palombo was an Israeli sculptor and painter. He was born in Turkey to a traditional family and immigrated to the Land of Israel with his parents in 1923. They lived in the Nahalat Shiva neighborhood of Jerusalem. In 1940 he began his studies at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and from 1942 was a student of sculptor Ze’ev Ben-Zvi. For a period of time, Palombo was an assistant at Ben-Zvi’s studio and also taught at Bezalel. During this period he was also a member of the “Histadrut HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed” (The General Federation of Students and Young Workers in Israel). In the 1940s he took art lessons at night. In 1948 he went to Paris, where he visited the studio of the sculptor Constantin Brancusi whose work influenced him. Around 1958 he married the artist Shulamit Sirota. In 1960 he quit his job to devote himself to art. In 1964 he married for the second time to the artist Yona Palombo. The two of them went to live in an abandoned home on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. In 1966 he was killed when the motorcycle on which he was riding ran into a chain stretched across the street to prevent the desecration of Shabbat. His widow opened a museum in their home that was active until the year 2000. Work by Palombo is included in the Judaic collection of the Jewish Museum (a well known Hanukkah menora). Palombo executed the impressive metal gates of the Tent of Remembrance at the Yad Vashem, the memorial to the martyrs of the holocaust, as well as the gates to the Knesset Building the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco award) awarded him a scholarship for study in Japan. He worked in marble, granite, bronze, iron and steel. as well as with glass mosaic tiles. Palombo’s early works, in the 1950s, were influenced by modernist sculptors such as Brancusi. These works were composed of abstract images from nature and were carved out of stone or wood. At the end of the 1950s he began making metal sculptors, using the technique of welding. His work took on a more abstract and expressive character. Education 1940 Painting with Isidor Ascheim, New Bezalel School for Arts and Crafts, Jerusalem 1942 Sculpture with Zeev Ben Zvi, Jerusalem 1956 Mosaic, Ravenna, Italy 1958 Welding Course Awards And Prizes 1966 UNESCO Award Exhibitions: Sculpture in Israel, 1948-1958 Mishkan Museum of Art, Kibbutz Ein Harod Artists: Zvi Aldouby, Yitzhak Danziger, Arieh Merzer, Dov Feigin, Aaron Priver, David Palumbo, Menashe Kadishman, Kosso Eloul, Yehiel Shemi, Zahara Schatz.
