About the Item

Pompeo Pianezzola was a very important figure in the Italian art scene, especially in the world of 20th-century ceramics. He was able to combine the tradition of Nove pottery with innovative artistic research, crossing the boundaries of craftsmanship to achieve a contemporary language. The proposed ceramics fall into the type of "books" or "scrolls" that Pianezzola has made, particularly since the 1980s. They are not meant to be read in the traditional sense, but to be contemplated as objects that hold stories. It is made by creating a cylindrical part that mimics parchment or a rolled paper, and a distended part that resembles a fragment of text. The surface of the latter is strongly textural, almost rough. Instead, the edges are jagged, as if the page were torn. In the center of the lying page is a short text that reads, "life, friendship remains." Unfortunately, the first word is not readable. This is followed by Pompeo Pianezzola's signature and the date on which the work was created: Christmas '96. Total measurements are 16x37x5.5 cm. The state of preservation is very good.

Giacomo Onestini ceramic sculpture Italy 1970
By Giacomo Onestini
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Beautiful ceramic sculpture designed by Giacomo Onestini made in his own atelier in Italy in 1970. It has a combination of matte and shiny glazed surfaces. The back and sides of the sculpture have a textured surface with shades of gray, green, and sometimes turquoise. On the front, there's a carved-out section that's smooth and glazed with red and gold hues. It's a very appealing and intriguing piece. You can find the artist's signature, "Onestini," on the side of the sculpture. This piece was created in the artist's personal studio. Very nice large sized, heavy piece and in excellent condition. After graduating as a master ceramist, Onestini moved to San Marino where he found employment at the "Marmaca" ceramics factory. Around the end of the 1950s, he moved to Salerno and began working with the "Ernestine...
