Although the artist works with a variety of materials, including bronze and ceramics, his preferred material is stone, specifically granite, marble, limestone, red sandstone, and alabaster from quarries in England, Ireland, and Italy.
Shape and material, and how they both interact with space and light, are at the centre of Richard Perry's artistic approach. His abstractly shaped sculptures have an elegant and solid balance created by the interaction of planes, lines, surfaces, and voids.
