About the Item

Sylvania 2 is a painted aluminum wall sculpture. It is light weight and easily installed with a single wall anchor, which is included. It is from a series of wall sculptures which exist somewhere between painting and sculpture. It is very three-dimensional, protruding from the wall a number of inches and casting interesting shadows. It surface has a sense of time, a patina of history. It is made of welded aluminum, which is very durable, and painted in enamel paint protected by an archival varnish with UV protection. When I was a kid we watched black and white television on a Sylvania TV set. The screen was somewhat oval in shape and between some TV shows a “test pattern” was shown. The screen would change to geometric shapes and numbers and the audio would become static and buzzing in nature. I found this fascinating, and often more interesting than the TV shows themselves.
