Alabaster, marble, bronze… Yann Guillon works with a variety of techniques and materials in his series Busts and Torsos to portray the male and female form. His artistic process includes both direct carving and ventures into abstraction, enabling him to experiment with different sculptural languages and explore new forms. The artist captures both the anatomical strength and the elegance of lines, curves, and volumes. Many of his sculptures maintain a raw, unfinished quality, preserving the immediacy and energy of the creative gesture.
The human figure stands at the heart of Yann Guillon’s artistic exploration. In these bodies caught in moments of intense physical exertion—often athletes or dancers—he emphasizes torsion and tension, inviting the viewer to witness the dynamic force at play. Through this energy, the bronze figures convey something of the enigma and grace that reside in every human being.

Yann Guillon
Depictions of the human body play a predominant role in Yann Guillon’s work. In these bodies captured in full effort, particularly athletes and dancers, the artist seeks to accentuate the tension and twisting to invite us to see this energy, through which the bronze sculptures express some of the mystery and grace of each human being. His direct carving technique and his forays into abstract sculpture allow him to explore other languages and other registers in sculpture. “When I’m working, I try to keep the first movement, the first energy from the feeling of the sculpture, so I always try to stand back, to work on several sculptures at the same time, to find a balance between raw, spontaneous sculpture and at the same time a finished sculpture.“
