Félix Agostini, rare original sculpture in gilt resin made circa 1960
Representing a Dancer or Icarus, this original sculpture is one of Félix Agostini's rarest creations. Félix Agostini (1910-1980) is a famed Parisian designer of the 1960s and '70s. His collaborations with Alberto and Diego Giacometti influenced his styles, from the textures of his sculptures to the skinny silhouettes he created. A tribute to the greek myth of Icarus, this wall lamp is one of his most moving sculpture, emblematic of the existentialist sculpture like the works of Alberto Giacometti and Germaine Richier (see the Men walking and other Figures by Alberto Giacometti, and also the Bat by Germaine Richier). This exceptional sculpture can be both integrated in a modern and contemporary interior, and in a classic decoration. It has a vintage marble base.
Very much appreciated by decorators and interior designers like Jacques Grange, Félix Agostini is one of the leader of french creation in the XXth century, along with Jean Michel Frank, Line Vautrin, Jean Royère, François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne, Philippe Anthonioz, Philippe Hiquily, Elisabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti.
