Antoinette Briet's sculpture can be called both a figurative and an abstract work of art. Her sculpted animals show their character, strength and beauty in an abstracted way. This keeps them stimulating and requires attention. The movement or stillness that she chooses for the animals and the attitude in which they are placed.
The animals of bronze made by Antoinette moving or stationary, are very recognizable.
The artist herself about her work: The choice for animals comes from the freedom I experience with the forms from the animal world to express feelings. I can go much further with the abstraction to achieve my goal, while still remaining recognizable. What touches me personally I try to highlight in the individuality of the chosen animal. I make many variations on a theme. I approach it from different sides in terms of shape, structure and skin.
