About the Item

a superb scale size of the Venere italica, the famous and notable sculpture carved by Antonio Canova in the 19th century standing on circular Carrara marble base. At the top of his notability and influence the King Ludovico di Borbone ask to Antonio Canova to make decided to make a version of the Venere de Medici a famous marble sculpture from the 1st Century. This sculpture is a scale size around 60% of the original one, was carved by an Italian sculptor probably a Venetian one in the first half of the 19th Century and he was certainly a follower of the great Master Antonio Canova. The sculpture show a A high artistic expression of sexual vulnerability is perfectly conveyed and a superior mastery on marble surfaces and textures is entirely recognizable and through his perfect and superfine technique he manages to resume in some ways the famous vision known as "direct touch".
