About the Item

Eutrope Bouret Bronze Spyche Eutrope Bouret (French, 1833-1906) Late 19th century. Signed on the base Bouret (French, 1833–1906) was an important 19th-century French sculptor, known for his elegant and often allegorical bronzes. Born in Paris on April 16, 1833, Bouret was a student of Louis Buhot. He gained recognition through regular exhibitions at the prestigious Paris Salon from 1875 to 1903. His work consists primarily of sculptures made from conventional materials such as marble, and especially bronze. Important aspects of his career and his works include: Materials and style: Bouret frequently worked with bronze, often creating pieces with rich, patinated surfaces. His style often included classical themes, allegories of love, spring, and the arts, but also showed an interest in romanticized depictions of the Middle Ages. He is also sometimes associated with Art Nouveau sculptures. Notable works: His well-known Source Bénézit et Pierre Kjellberg, Dictionnaire des sculpteurs : les bronzes du xixe siècle, Éditions de l'Amateur, 1997.
