Artist statement: "For me, Don Quixote embodies the bold determination to pursue dreams, regardless of reality. These sculptures honor his admirable ability to strive for the impossible while exploring the depths of human nature, a tribute to the fascination between illusion and truth. I am fascinated and captivated by his world, and I am delighted to be able to express and share this in my works."
Gyunay Aliev belongs to a generation of artists who bridge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic trends. His works reflect a deep respect for classical techniques while engaging in a dialogue with modern expression.
Aliev´s bronze sculptures are created through an elaborate and centuries-old lost-wax casting process (cire perdue), involving every step from shaping the form to casting, refining, chiseling, and patination.
