This bronze squirrel emerges through a play of lines, edges, and curves. The artist’s interpretation stands out in the clarity of its contours, the precision of its lines, and its geometric dimension—elements that together make this squirrel a singular work, charged with emotion. White bronze is an alloy in which part of the copper is replaced by tin and zinc, giving it a silvery tone.
A self-taught sculptor, Jacques Owczarek discovered his vocation at the age of 30, a moment he considers his true birth. Dedicated and meticulous, he approaches each work with rigorous craftsmanship, driven by an endless pursuit of perfection. He never begins with a predetermined animal in mind; instead, the form emerges through the creative process. As he explains: “I take some clay, I work it, I observe it. I try to perceive a kind of animal, and gradually it reveals itself to me. It’s the clay that speaks, my hands simply interpret.”
His wildlife sculptures are remarkable: from one angle, their shapes seem inscrutable, while from another they reveal entirely new facets. To fully appreciate them, one must circle around the piece, uncovering unexpected perspectives. His works radiate both sensitivity and humor, as though infused with the very soul of their creator.

Jacques Owczarek
Jacques Owczarek’s sculptures oscillate between figuration and abstraction, redefining the genre of animal sculpture. In his bronze bestiary, the artist favours purity of form, synthesising it in a distinct, highly original style. He allows himself to be guided by his intuitions, creating animals with dynamic, geometric lines that give an impression of movement to static matter. Jacques Owczarek has exhibited at some of the most prestigious international shows and fairs for almost 20 years. “For me, the animal is just a pretext, a pretext for shapes that will question, for volumes that will live, that will settle, that will take possession of the place, that will evolve in a direction that I will give them because they impose themselves on me.’’
