About the Item
Takioaka Must is a sculpture by French contemporary artist Jacques Owczarek.
This sculpture is available in format 6.5 cm x 13 cm x 9 cm (2.5 x 5.1 x 3.5 in).
The artwork is signed and numbered, it is part of a limited edition of 8 editions + 4 artist’s proofs, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This bronze turtle emerges through a harmonious interplay of lines, edges, and curves. What sets the artist’s vision apart is the precision of form, the crispness of the lines, and the sculpture’s geometric elegance. These carefully balanced elements transform the turtle into a singular creation, rich in emotion and presence.
The piece is crafted in white bronze, a distinctive alloy in which some of the copper is replaced by tin and zinc, giving the metal a luminous, silvery sheen.
Jacques Owczarek is a self-taught sculptor who discovered his passion for sculpture at the age of 30, a moment he describes as his true beginning. A tireless craftsman, he approaches each piece with meticulous attention to detail, driven by a constant pursuit of perfection. His creative process is entirely intuitive: he never sets out with a specific animal in mind. As he explains, "I take some clay, I work it and I observe it. I try and perceive some sort of animal and progressively it’ll come to me. It’s the clay that is talking and my hands are just interpreting."
Owczarek’s animal sculptures are remarkable in their complexity. Viewed from one angle, their full form remains hidden; only by moving around them does the full picture emerge. His works radiate both sensitivity and humor, as if each sculpture carries a fragment of the artist’s soul within it.

Jacques Owczarek
Jacques Owczarek’s sculptures oscillate between figuration and abstraction, redefining the genre of animal sculpture. In his bronze bestiary, the artist favours purity of form, synthesising it in a distinct, highly original style. He allows himself to be guided by his intuitions, creating animals with dynamic, geometric lines that give an impression of movement to static matter. Jacques Owczarek has exhibited at some of the most prestigious international shows and fairs for almost 20 years. “For me, the animal is just a pretext, a pretext for shapes that will question, for volumes that will live, that will settle, that will take possession of the place, that will evolve in a direction that I will give them because they impose themselves on me.’’
