About the Item

This architectural ceramic and wood sculpture presents the body as a habitable structure, transforming the idea of portraiture into a domestic space. Fogar 1 belongs to a two-piece series derived from a single ceramic head, from which two distinct architectural forms emerge. In this work, the human body is reimagined as a dwelling—an interior space that can be visually accessed and contemplated, reinforcing the notion of the body as the physical home we permanently inhabit. The sculpture invites the viewer to look inside its structure, revealing a spacious interior room with a wooden floor and large arched windows. This interior visibility introduces a narrative dimension uncommon in small-scale sculpture, shifting the focus from exterior form to inner space and lived environment. The ceramic component is made from white clay with fine chamotte, fired at low temperature to preserve surface softness and material nuance. Chestnut wood elements, treated with lasur and nitro varnish, form the architectural shell, balancing organic warmth with structural clarity. Designed as a freestanding object, Fogar 1 aligns with 1stDibs categories such as Small Sculptures, Architectural Objects and Contemporary Craft, and is particularly well suited for collectors interested in intimate, concept-driven works that bridge sculpture, architecture and interior imagination. Keywords such as architectural house sculpture, ceramic architectural object and sculptural interior space reinforce its visibility for audiences drawn to narrative and spatial approaches in contemporary art.
