About the Item

This architectural layered hanging cement head sculpture forms part of the Proyectos subseries within José Perozo’s broader framework of anthropotecture. Project 3 investigates the human head as a constructed dwelling, assembled through stacked layers, hidden joints and structural accents. Designed to be suspended, the piece emphasizes notions of support, equilibrium and the architectural logic inherent in the human form. Its compact scale aligns it naturally with collectible small sculptures and design-oriented hanging objects. Cast in high-hardness cement from a silicone mold, the sculpture retains characteristic features of construction materials: pores, tonal variations, light abrasions, small chips and visible joints. Each layer is individually hand-tinted with water-based pigments and sealed with a semi-matte varnish to preserve surface detail. Chestnut wood, treated with lasur, is inserted as horizontal structural elements across the head’s architecture, creating a warm contrast with the mineral materiality. The cement mixture incorporates fine aggregates for crisp modeling, acrylic fibers to prevent shrinkage cracks and a water-reducing agent to improve flow without compromising durability. Suspended from a 1 mm black steel cable (custom length up to three meters), the sculpture adapts well to a wide range of interior contexts. Its blend of figuration, material experimentation and architectural thinking aligns strongly with key 1stDibs categories such as Small Sculptures, Hanging Sculptures and Figural Works, making it a compelling entry for the Holiday Gift Guide. Recurrent keywords—architectural sculpture, hanging cement sculpture, collectible head sculpture—strengthen its visibility for collectors seeking concept-driven contemporary works.
