About the Item

This architectural layered hanging cement head sculpture extends the conceptual language of anthropotecture by treating the human head as a suspended built structure. Project 24 introduces an external wooden framework that surrounds the upper volume of the sculpture like an architectural scaffold, reinforcing the idea of the body as a dwelling shaped through construction, support and layered assembly. Its hybrid character places the piece at the intersection of architectural sculpture, figurative portraiture and collectible hanging objects. The sculpture is cast in high-hardness cement using a silicone mold, preserving the characteristic traces of construction materials: pores, subtle tonal variations, joints, small chips and areas of light abrasion. Each section of the head is hand-tinted with water-based pigments and protected with a semi-matte varnish. The chestnut wood component—treated with lasur—functions as an exterior structural frame, adding contrast between mineral and organic materials. Fine aggregates ensure crisp modeling, while acrylic fibers and a water-reducing agent reinforce the material’s stability and prevent shrinkage cracking. Suspended from a 1 mm black steel cable (customizable up to three meters), the work accommodates a wide range of installation contexts. Its scale, conceptual clarity and material presence align strongly with key 1stDibs categories including Small Sculptures, Hanging Sculptures and Figural Works, making it a compelling option within the Holiday Gift Guide. Keywords such as architectural sculpture, hanging cement sculpture and collectible head sculpture enhance its discoverability among collectors interested in concept-driven artworks rooted in architecture and material experimentation.
