About the Item

This architectural painted cement head sculpture introduces a layered chromatic vocabulary into the Proyectos subseries. In Project 20, the head is wrapped in alternating bands of blue, gray and teal tones, transforming the structural logic of anthropotecture into a visual system of chromatic strata. Rather than relying on added wood or external frameworks, this piece explores architecture as a sequence of color-defined layers, suggesting sedimentation, elevation markers or façade divisions within a built environment. Cast in high-hardness cement using a silicone mold, the sculpture preserves the inherent qualities of concrete: pores, tonal irregularities, fine fissures and minor surface variations that reflect the physical behavior of the material. The painted layers—applied with water-based pigments—introduce a strong horizontal rhythm, activating the form and redefining the anatomy through color rather than volume. A semi-matte varnish seals the surface and enhances the transitions between chromatic fields. Fine aggregates ensure crisp modeling, while acrylic fibers and a water-reducing agent strengthen the mixture and prevent shrinkage cracking. Designed as a free-standing object for shelves, pedestals or tabletop display, Project 20 aligns naturally with 1stDibs categories such as Small Sculptures, Figural Works and Contemporary Painted Objects, making it particularly suited for the Holiday Gift Guide. Keywords including painted cement sculpture, color-layered head sculpture and architectural portrait sculpture reinforce its visibility among collectors seeking distinctive, material-driven works.
