About the Item
Metamorphosis I is the first piece in Kiva Ford's "Metamorphosis" series exploring the life cycles of various animals.
Drawing from his training as a scientific glassblower, Ford examines natural phenomena with a methodical approach, creating life-like sculpture with an artistic flair.
Metamorphosis I is comprised of handblown borosilicate glass, a custom stainless steel stand, and plastic knobs used in scientific glassblowing, like the work Ford makes for the U.S. government and the international scientific community.
The piece has beautiful green leaves, yellow and black in the caterpillar custom mixed to be true to life, and spot on orange and black for the Monarch butterflies encased in clear scientific glass.
