About the Item

"Pepe" is a striking metal sculpture of a wild pig, showcasing an exceptional combination of industrial aesthetics and natural form. Crafted from textured, rust-toned metal, the sculpture commands attention with its robust and earthy presence. Miquel Aparici has skilfully used welded seams and metal sheets to create a lifelike representation, with intricate detailing on the ears, snout, and eyes. Its sturdy legs provide a solid stance, evoking a sense of agility and strength. The use of horizontal strips along the body adds a unique pattern, enhancing the visual dynamism of the piece. The sculpture’s patina and finish reflect a rugged, artisanal quality, inviting viewers to admire its craftsmanship up close. This piece is not just a depiction of a pig but a celebration of the raw, transformative power of metal in art. Aparici's work is characterized by simplicity, since most of his pieces bring together few elements, resulting in very elegant compositions with simple lines, which together with his creativity, endow his pieces with great expressive power. In addition to exhibiting in various galleries in Barcelona, Miquel Aparici's work has travelled to several other cities around the world (New York, Copenhagen, Fribourg, Madrid, Vienna and Milan), and has been shown at international fairs, such as ART Bodensee (Austria), ART Copenhaguen (Denmark) and Art Fair de Cologne (Germany), as well as institutions, such as the Museum of Natural Sciences in Barcelona and the Sagrada Familia Temple, which in 2005 brought together a curious selection of various pieces by the artist inspired by the animals sculpted by Gaudí. Other spaces that have recently hosted an exhibition of his work are the Cristina Enea Foundation (San Sebastian) and the Miramar Cultural Centre in Sitges (Barcelona).
