About the Item
Luna has a minimalist yet powerful design, featuring an elongated female figure poised with arms outstretched. Dominating the composition is a circular disc representing the moon in a cosmic backdrop, which amplifies the figure's ethereal presence.
The slender female form stands gracefully perched on a small rectangular base, exuding balance and harmony. The texture of the surface, artfully rendered, imbues the piece with raw elegance. The interplay between the woman and the moon creates a dynamic tension, suggesting themes of transcendence and the eternal, and also women's long assocation with the cosmic body. Its stark silhouette against a neutral background enhances the sculpture's dramatic impact.
This piece is created using the lost wax process. A silicon mould is made for the original hand-shaped wax to allow the piece to be repeated in an edition of 25.
Nando also hammers his mark into the base.

Nando Kallweit
Nando Kallweit is a German sculptor working in bronze and oak. As a young boy, he was inspired by the beauty and antiquity of a bust of Nefertiti housed in the Egyptian Museum of Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, his new-found freedoms allowed him to travel to Egypt and develop his belief in the basic strength and pride inherent in inhumanity. His sculptures seek to emphasize this through elongated forms and upright postures. He reduces the figures to simple gestures and movements creating sculptures with a wonderful interplay between the archaic and the modern; between art and design. Nando’s work has been exhibited across Europe and is held in many private collections. He has produced a number of large scale permanent installation pieces for German municipalities and museums.
