About the Item
Ashford Fine Art is the exclusive source for this limited edition bronze, entitled Hercules and the Erymanthian Boar, by the distinguished American sculptor, painter, and designer, Nathaniel Choate, (1899-1965). The original solo bronze study and wooden base was created nearly a century ago during Choate’s art studies at Harvard University. It has been passed down through family members and is now being cast in a limited series for collectors. This is the first of a series of twelve numbered pieces and six numbered artist proofs finished in a deep brown/bronze patina. Remaining production will follow demand until the series is complete. Nathaniel Choate’s work from the early to mid-twentieth century has been well documented. This piece has been selected from the family’s collection for its masterful execution and presentation of the classic Greek tale of Hercules’ fourth labor for King Eurystheus. Series number and artist name is engraved beneath the bronze base. Buyer will receive certificate of authenticity signed by Choate family member.
