Containing the Rage is a unique figurative work by Galician sculptor Óscar Aldonza, created entirely through the lost wax process, preserving every gesture and mark from the original wax model. Measuring 55 × 28 × 17 cm, the elongated figure reveals a moment of internal conflict, held in suspension, where energy and restraint coexist.
Aldonza’s expressionist language is grounded in material honesty: the rough surface, the irregular anatomy and the oxidized patina intensify the emotional charge of the piece. Óscar Aldonza Torres
Óscar Aldonza Torres (Santiago de Compostela) is a Spanish sculptor working in ceramic, bronze, and mixed media. He studied Volume Techniques at EASD Mestre Mateo, earned a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, and completed an MA in Art Heritage Management at the University of Santiago de Compostela. His work has been exhibited in Spain, Portugal, and France, including the Salon d’Automne in Paris, O Rectángulo de Ouro in Portugal, MIHL Museum in Lugo, and Galería Sabor a Menta in Santiago.
Aldonza’s practice is rooted in expressive, process-driven sculpture, where the human figure emerges through direct modeling, material experimentation, and a strong interest in emotional tension and psychological interiority.
