This expressive ceramic sculpture, part of the Extravagantes series, brings together high-fire ceramic, vanadium glaze, manganese metallic glaze, crystalline-glazed porcelain and a forged-iron hook. The work reflects Óscar Aldonza Torres’ interest in process-driven modelling, intuitive deformation and the tension between fragility and resilience.
Its elongated body, textured surface and hybrid construction—combining fired clay with a forged metal element—create a figure that is both playful and enigmatic. Aldonza’s practice embraces the unexpected behaviour of materials, allowing gestures, accidents and heat effects to shape the final form.
As with the entire series, each Extravagante is unique and deliberately open-ended, evoking individuality through subtle humour and expressive distortion while inviting multiple readings.

Óscar Aldonza Torres
Óscar Aldonza Torres (Santiago de Compostela) is a Spanish sculptor working in ceramic, bronze, and mixed media. He studied Volume Techniques at EASD Mestre Mateo, earned a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, and completed an MA in Art Heritage Management at the University of Santiago de Compostela. His work has been exhibited in Spain, Portugal, and France, including the Salon d’Automne in Paris, O Rectángulo de Ouro in Portugal, MIHL Museum in Lugo, and Galería Sabor a Menta in Santiago.
Aldonza’s practice is rooted in expressive, process-driven sculpture, where the human figure emerges through direct modeling, material experimentation, and a strong interest in emotional tension and psychological interiority.
