About the Item

Translucent alabaster head sculpture with expressive natural veins, carved in direct carving for a unique interplay of light, stone and human form. This unique alabaster head sculpture is carved through direct carving, allowing the material’s translucent structure and its singular network of natural veins to shape the final form. The stone’s variations—ochre lines, soft fractures and cloudy passages—create expressive patterns that become part of the face’s emotional anatomy. Polished to a satin glow, the alabaster transmits light through its surface, giving the piece an organic, almost breathing presence. Rather than imposing a rigid likeness, the artist lets the stone guide the emergence of the figure, embracing the dialogue between material behaviour, illumination and symbolic resonance. “Luz” stands as a singular work in which matter and meaning co-produce a subtle meditation on fragility, time and the inner luminosity of the human figure.
