In this work, Pavlína Kvita draws on the symbolism of red earth — a material deeply rooted in ancient myths of creation, life, and death. Once used in rituals and burials, red pigment has long been associated with protection, vitality, and a sacred connection to the land and one’s ancestors. Inspired by this elemental substance, Kvita creates sculptures in artificial stone that evoke ritual objects, hybrid beings, and totemic guardians. Set upon meticulously designed geometric pedestals, her works blur the line between sculpture and design, matter and meaning.
Emerging from an exploration of her inner world, the Czech artist’s sculptures give form to enigmatic figures that appear simultaneously archaic and futuristic. These anthropomorphic and zoomorphic presences, silent and timeless, inhabit space with both strength and equilibrium. Their fluid, dynamic lines verge on abstraction, reflecting a tension between stability and transformation. Kvita’s creative process unfolds in a circular rhythm of creation, transformation, and destruction — an intimate dialogue with material that reveals the infinite potential of form.

Pavlína Kvita
The sculptures of the Czech artist Pavlína Kvita come to life from the exploration of her inner world, resulting in the creation of mysterious figures with forms that are both archaic and futuristic. These anthropomorphic or zoomorphic creatures, silent presences outside of time, impose themselves in space with a blend of strength and balance, conferred on them by their dynamic, streamlined lines, tending towards abstraction. Pavlína Kvita’s sculptures are the end result of a circular process of creation/transformation/destruction which the artist establishes with the material, manipulating shapes and their infinite possibilities. “I really need to feel the work in my hands, to find it by breaking it down and destroying it, and then rebuilding it again. For me it is a process of destruction and creation, just like the process we see at work in life.”
